Real Madrid hits out at Juanma Castaño over his comparison between Realmadrid TV and Gara

Real Madrid issued a new statement on Tuesday targeting Juanma Castaño over the comparison made by the journalist between Realmadrid TV and the newspaper Gara. The response follows a column published on Monday entitled “El Real Madrid en Guerra”.

In that article, published in the newspaper ABC, Juanma Castaño wrote: “On the official television channel, which is the Gara newspaper of ultra-Florentinismo, they are calling for withdrawal from national competitions.” Gara is described as a newspaper linked to abertzale ideology.

Real Madrid C. F. considers the comparison, attributed in its statement to the Cope journalist, to be “absolutely deplorable and unacceptable”. The club added that it reserved “the right to adopt the measures it considers appropriate in the face of an attack that is wholly unacceptable”.

In its statement, Real Madrid said that comparing its official media outlet with a newspaper whose history is linked, in the club’s view, to the milieu of the terrorist organisation ETA was an “extremely serious” act that crossed every line.

The club also defended Realmadrid TV, describing it as its official media outlet, legitimately exercising its right to inform and defend the interests of the club, its members and its supporters. It also stressed that it represents the sensibilities and values of millions of supporters around the world.
