Madring releases final figures for its first edition

Madring has released the final figures for its first edition, the Spanish Grand Prix held a few days ago at Madrid’s street circuit. With the first tickets for 2027 about to go on sale, the organisation describes the results as a “resounding success”.

Total attendance over the weekend reached 352,618 spectators. Madring recorded 87,890 people on Friday, during the first and second free practice sessions, 122,039 on Saturday for third free practice and qualifying, and then 128,183 on Sunday, race day.

A total of 261,766 spectators were counted in the grandstands. The various hospitality areas welcomed 38,879 people, while the Paddock Club hosted 15,000.

The organisation also said that 275,000 people, or eight in every ten attendees, used public transport. Of those, 168,000 travelled by metro and 107,000 used commuter rail services.

In terms of audience and digital figures, Madring reported 288,000 social-media mentions, 1,551,000 free-to-air television viewers and a 16.9% audience share. Its website gained 508,000 new users, while the Madrid venue’s social-media accounts added 45,000 followers. The on-site operation also included 264 food-service areas, with up to 2,100 waiters.

“It was not just a Grand Prix. It was the first one. And we have just written the first page of a new story,” Madring officials said.

After the Grand Prix, 9,184 kilograms of surplus food were donated. Attention is now turning to 2027: the race is due to be held on similar dates, from 10 to 12 September, and the first tickets are due to go on sale on 29 September.
