He maintains that the perception of him in England was limited to his pace and aggression. He also says he felt respected for his speed and pressing, without his quality and football intelligence being properly valued. He believes he has become a different player in the eyes of many people.
At Barcelona, Gordon believes a different style brings out his qualities more and means people no longer see him only as a fast player. Looking back on Newcastle, he explains that the intensity and physical commitment of the style there mainly highlighted his running and aggression. He contrasts that experience with his current style, which he describes as completely opposite and more conducive to showing his other qualities.
