Steiner dismissed the prospect of Christian Horner and Fred Vasseur working together at Ferrari. Speculation over Horner's future intensified after he told The Times that he would consider a leadership role at Maranello.
According to Steiner, Horner wants to return to Formula 1 and has clearly indicated that he no longer wants to work for somebody else. He believes Horner's “plan A” is not working out and that a role at Ferrari would not give him a stake in the team.
Steiner believes Horner sees an opportunity. He also suggests that the publication of a book could bring him some publicity, while saying he does not know whether that would help its sales.
For Steiner, Vasseur should not remain in order to work under Horner. He considers Vasseur highly accomplished, but says he does not know whether Vasseur wants to leave or has to leave.
Steiner notes that Vasseur has a contract and questions the value of that kind of commitment in Formula 1. In his view, there is no room for both men and that scenario will not happen.
