At 40, Olivier Giroud says he has to manage the physical effects of time passing in order to stay on the pitch. He sums up his condition in one phrase: “It’s creaking a little.”

He stresses that playing without minor physical issues does not exist as one gets older. He revealed that he had injections last Wednesday to help his joints, using hyaluronic acid or cortisone, in order to recover and reduce inflammation.

Olivier Giroud believes this season will very probably be his last as a player. He says he wants to enjoy every moment, feels at peace with his career and more relaxed than ever; he also considers that returning to France after a long career as an expatriate abroad was one of his best decisions.

His retirement from Canal has also been reported.
