Dani Vivian returned to action yesterday in the EH Txapela final, making his first appearance of the season. The defender had not featured in any pre-season matches or competitive fixtures because of a muscle injury. His appearance therefore marked his return to the pitch after that spell out.
Vivian came on for Paredes and took up a place in central defence alongside Alejandro Rego. Rego, a midfielder, had been converted to the centre-back position. The central defensive pairing thus brought Vivian together with a player usually described as a midfielder, while the change for Paredes gave Vivian his first appearance of the campaign.
Vivian’s return was the defining moment of the final for him: after missing pre-season and competitive matches because of his muscle injury, he was back in action and took up a role at the heart of the defence. His first outing of the season also saw him return to central defence, alongside Rego, in a match played for the EH Txapela.
