Vicky López will miss the Clásico against Real Madrid. Pere Romeu confirmed that the forward would not be in the squad for the season’s first Clásico at Spotify Camp Nou. The club said she was suffering from a myofibrillar injury to the right rectus femoris.
Her absence also affects the national team. The Federation had called her up despite Barcelona being unable to count on her in Rome on its most recent Champions League trip. The Spanish Federation later announced that she would ultimately miss the gathering.
Ahead of the match against Madrid, Romeu had said López’s call-up would depend on how she felt. The coach explained: “She hasn’t trained and won’t be available.” He added that she was still experiencing discomfort related to her injury: she took part in a session the previous day but did not finish it, and was unable to train on the day of his statement.
