Estevao and Pedro scored in the first half before Samu Lino netted twice after the break as Brazil beat India 0-4 on Saturday in Calcuta. Played in high humidity, the match was the first meeting between the two national teams.
Estevao opened the scoring with a shot from outside the area after a fine move. Pedro, leading the attack, extended the advantage shortly before half-time. In the second half, Lino took advantage of an opposing error to make it 0-3, then scored the fourth goal in added time.
The win brought Brazil’s tour to a close. The team had previously faced Australia twice, drawing 1-1 before winning 2-4. The result against India was more convincing, but Carlo Ancelotti’s side did not completely dispel the doubts raised by its earlier performances.
