Cádiz claim emphatic 4-0 win over Leganés

Cádiz made a emphatic start to their season, beating Leganés 4-0 at JP Financial Stadium to secure their first win of the campaign. Albert Celades’ side, who had recently been questioned by some of their supporters, were clearly superior throughout the match.

The second goal, scored in the 54th minute, prompted Rubén Albés to make four substitutions at once. It did not slow Cádiz down: Antoñito Cordero scored his second of the match in the 71st minute to make it 3-0. The forward from El Puerto finished a move set up by Aimen Moueffek, who was making his debut. Moueffek then got on the scoresheet himself in the 83rd minute, converting a delivery from the right.

The result gives Cádiz some breathing space. After ending a run of three straight defeats with a 1-1 draw at Tenerife in the previous round, the club move provisionally out of the relegation places, pending other results. Leganés remain in the middle of the table despite suffering a second consecutive defeat and their third loss in four rounds. Before the second goal, Vladys had threatened, but Zidane turned his shot behind for a corner in the 52nd minute.
