The New York Liberty lost 92-82 to the Atlanta Dream in the WNBA semifinals. Raquel Carrera did not play for the Liberty, who now trail in a series being played as a best-of-seven.
The Dream were led by Jordin Canada’s 25 points and DeWanna Bonner’s 23. Angel Reese added 17 points and 7 rebounds. The Liberty, who had upset the Minnesota Lynx in the first round, were hurt by a third quarter they lost 32-15.
In the other semifinal, the Golden State Valkyries beat the Las Vegas Aces 71-60 at home in the opening game and lead 1-0. Gabby Williams led the Valkyries with a double-double of 25 points and 11 rebounds, while Kaitlyn Chen contributed 11 points. The Aces, who had not scored fewer than 89 points in the postseason before this game, had a difficult night shooting.
The WNBA Finals begin on October 17 and will also be played as a best-of-seven series.
