Brian McDermott names England’s 23 for the 2026 World Cup

Brian McDermott has named 23 players in England’s squad for the 2026 Rugby League World Cup. Mikey Lewis has been selected ahead of Jake Connor, who misses out despite an impressive season with the Rhinos.

Last season, Connor won the Super League Man of Steel award. This season, he has made 43 assists, more than any other player. Lewis, a Hull KR player, takes his place in the squad: he has scored 17 tries and provided 14 assists this season.

Victor Radley will return to the England fold after winning Sunday’s NRL Grand Final. His Sydney Roosters team-mate Hugo Savala has also been selected.

Dally M centre of the year Herbie Farnworth and Dom Young are also back in the side. At the 2022 World Cup, both were among England’s top performers.
