Oscar Piastri left F1 fans laughing with an unexpected answer about the Singapore Grand Prix. The day before the sprint weekend, the McLaren driver was asked what makes the race so difficult at McLaren Racing Live, held at Singapore’s Sands Theatre.
“Obviously, all the races are tough, but this one is on another level. So you have to…” he began. His voice then broke, and he stopped before making a quacking sound, prompting laughter from the crowd. The interviewer joked: “It’s a hot race, Oscar, we get it.” Piastri then gave his answer: “What’s the hardest thing about Singapore? Puberty.”
Fans know his dry sense of humour, and the moment showed him gently poking fun at himself. The joke stood in contrast with the circuit’s demanding reputation: Singapore is among the most challenging tracks of the F1 season. Piastri had described the event as particularly difficult, but chose a much more personal explanation to get a laugh from the audience.
