Niko Kovac will remain the coach of Borussia Dormtund. His continuity comes amid a positive run for the club, whose strong start to the season is also an argument in his favour.
Kovac, 54, joined Borussia Dortmund in January 2025, succeeding Nuri Sahin. When he arrived, the team was 11th in the Bundesliga. It went on to qualify for the UEFA Champions League at the end of the season. That swift response helped him earn the trust of the supporters, players and club leadership.
The executives’ regard for him is also clear. “The esteem for Niko Kovac is incredibly high. It is only a matter of time, that is clear,” said Dortmund chief executive Carsten Cramer.
Dortmund’s strong start this season therefore adds to the case for Kovac to continue. His position at the helm is confirmed, while Cramer’s remarks reflect the confidence he enjoys at the club.
