Medhi Benatia could be set for a return to Italian football. Now a consultant for Canal+, the 39-year-old Moroccan is reportedly being considered by AC Milan, according to Sport Mediaset. The Italian outlet names him as a candidate for the sporting director role, which the club aims to fill in January.
AC Milan owner Gerry Cardinale would like the club to appoint someone to the position for the winter transfer window. Benatia has already held a senior football role: after a playing career that included Udinese, Roma and Juventus, he served as Olympique de Marseille’s director of football between November 2023 and 2026. He also knows Italian football well.
Benatia is not the only option reportedly under consideration. Markus Krösche remains a possibility, while contacts with Benatia are said to have already taken place. For now, the AC Milan link remains a reported possibility rather than an announced appointment.
