FC Barcelona announced on Thursday evening that Xavi Espart had extended his contract until the summer of 2030. The decision rewards the player’s impressive start to the season and rapid progress, as his integration into the first team has accelerated under Flick since the beginning of 2026.
In mid-August last year, Espart was told he had gained full first-team status and was given the number 12. Flick considers his ability to play in several positions an important tactical asset.
Before the extension, Espart was bound by a contract with conditions linked to the reserve team, which was due to expire in 2028. The club’s leadership therefore moved quickly to retain one of its most promising talents. The new agreement secures Espart’s continuity and comes with a substantial salary increase and a notable rise in his release clause.
