“I think we have a team capable of winning the next five matches,” Carlos Soler says. The midfielder believes Real can approach the stretch ahead with ambition after the long international break: five fixtures in 15 days across LaLiga and the Europa League, offering a chance to improve its position in both competitions.
Speaking to Radio Euskadi, Soler acknowledges that his side needs to improve defensively. He also points to the group’s attacking potential, which he sees as crucial to making the most of a crowded schedule. In his view, the break has given Real time to prepare for the fixtures coming up through the end of the year.
The schedule includes two Europa League matches and three league games in a short span. Soler believes the squad is capable of winning all of them, while recognising that travel and the unpredictability of football can complicate the task. “We had quite a few days off to switch off before a long month with lots of matches; we rested, and now we’re working for the weekend game,” he says.
Finding the right balance between attacking intent and defensive discipline is one of the challenges he highlights. Soler argues that a team with such attacking resources can win many games if it keeps a clean sheet, although doing so in Primera is no easy task. He wants Real to take the initiative without charging forward recklessly.
The midfielder also reflects on Real’s lively matches, pointing to wins in Elche and Valencia. He enjoys games full of twists, which can build confidence and lift a team in the standings, but stresses the need to manage key moments better. For Soler, the priority is to keep winning, even when the match takes a turbulent course.
Soler says he is happy with how things are going for him at Real and in San Sebastián, a destination he chose a little over a year earlier. He also recalls that, after a difficult start to the season, the team won a title and secured a place in Europe. With the next match coming on Sunday, his message is clear: approach the schedule with confidence while continuing to address the defensive improvements required.
