He also holds the record for the most seasons in charge of the club, with 27. Having arrived at the “Red Devils” in 1986, he built a lasting story with Manchester United.
Returning to Old Trafford took on special significance after his hospitalisation. Ferguson described the contrast between the solitude of a hospital bed and the welcome he received at the stadium: “The moment I got out of the car at the stadium, I felt as if a whole community was opening its heart to me. It was overwhelming.”
