Bayern Munich are targeting Jules Koundé, with a view to signing him from Barcelona in January. The French defender, who plays for FC Barcelona, is back on the German club’s radar as it prepares an approach ahead of the next winter transfer window. No deal has been announced as completed.
Bayern coach Vincent Kompany is said to regard Koundé as a suitable option to strengthen the right flank, given what he could bring to that position. For next January, the Frenchman is reported to be among the club’s priorities as it looks to reinforce the squad, with the coaching staff seeking to strengthen at right-back.
Bayern’s management is confident it can complete the move, particularly because Koundé’s role at Barcelona is said to have diminished since the start of the current season under Hansi Flick. The defender remains under contract with the Catalan club until June 2028, however. Any move therefore depends on Barcelona’s position regarding a possible departure.
The interest is not new: Bayern wanted to sign Koundé during the previous winter transfer window. His name has now returned to the German club’s plans for the next transfer period, but that interest does not mean a deal is secured.
