The national beach soccer team held its first training session in Luanda before facing Angola next Sunday. The fixture is part of qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal, which provides a route to next year’s World Cup in Brazil. Ahmed Abdel Razek led the session on one of the city’s beaches.
The players began with light exercises before moving on to penalty practice. They then took part in volleyball training, intended to build confidence ahead of a match described as decisive. The session also covered the basic techniques involved in penalty-taking and cooperation among the players. Angolan supporters watched the training.
The team is expected to return to the same ground on Saturday for its final session before kickoff, scheduled for Sunday afternoon. The fixture will open the team’s contest with Angola in the qualifying campaign. The return match is scheduled for Alexandria on Sunday the 18th of the same month. Until then, the work in Luanda gives the squad a chance to continue its collective preparation and practice in front of goal ahead of the match.
