Uncertainty continues to surround Porzingis’s health. The Latvian center, whom Kevin Durant once nicknamed the “unicorn,” has not reached 60 appearances in any of the past three seasons. A number of physical problems have affected him, without their exact nature becoming clear. Diagnosed with a disorder that caused exhaustion, he is not at the Warriors’ training camp, and the team has provided no details about his illness.
Porzingis is once again unavailable, with no one knowing what is wrong. An image shows him at a Warriors presentation before a game, while an air of mystery surrounds his absence from the franchise’s facilities.
Asked what he knew about the situation, coach Steve Kerr gave a blunt reply: “No.” Al Horford also acknowledged the lack of information: “We don’t have a lot of information. So I think for us it’s just to wait for him to recover, to get better.”
Porzingis renewed his contract with the Warriors on June 30. That decision, however, offers no clarity on his current medical situation, which remains uncertain.
