The Portuguese Federation has opened a disciplinary investigation into Ronaldo after he left the national team camp. The Portuguese Football Federation announced proceedings against Cristiano Ronaldo, the national team captain, following his departure from the camp in Copenhagen, the Danish capital.

The federation’s disciplinary committee decided to handle the case urgently. It also made the provisional suspension imposed on the player non-automatic, so it could complete the proceedings and examine the circumstances of the incident. The statement says Ronaldo was initially subject to an automatic provisional suspension, which remained in place until disciplinary proceedings were opened. The committee then imposed a non-automatic provisional suspension while accelerating its review of the case.

The decision to open proceedings was made on October 9, 2026. Its purpose is to determine whether the reported events of October 7 of the same year constituted a disciplinary offence. The case was referred to the federation’s disciplinary investigation committee on October 10, 2026. Details will remain confidential until the investigation is complete.
