Abdallah Bakri has explained why his transfer to Zamalek did not go through: the club’s registration ban prevented the deal from being completed, despite contracts being signed and all the terms agreed. The ZED defender revisited the episode in an interview broadcast on On Sport FM.
Bakri said he came close to joining Zamalek after his contract with Pyramids ended in 2021. « After the end of my contract with Pyramids in 2021, I signed the contracts for my transfer to Zamalek and finalised all the agreements, but the registration ban prevented the deal from being completed. »
He had previously said that all the details were settled, but the restriction blocked the move. He also described his path after becoming a free agent: « I was a free player, then I joined Pharco, then ZED. I was saddened not to join Zamalek, because it was a great opportunity and a dream for every player. »
Bakri had previously represented Smouha, Pyramids, Pharco and Al Ittihad Alexandria before moving to ZED.
