Matthis Abline gives Monaco a two-goal cushion against Toulouse

Monaco extended its lead against Toulouse in the sixth round of Ligue 1 on Saturday. A few minutes after Edan Diop opened the scoring, Matthis Abline made it two with a finish described as a « little gem ».

The goal came in the 38th minute, shortly before the interval, with Monaco hosting Toulouse. Abline’s strike strengthened Monaco’s advantage in the match.

The goal came amid Monaco’s strong start to the season: after the first five rounds, the club was top of the league and on course to continue an almost perfect opening. Abline’s contribution helped sustain that momentum against Toulouse.

The finish also prompted the question of whether it could contend for goal of the season. Before finding Abline in the middle, Sofiane Diop won the ball in the centre circle and picked out his teammate.
