Enric Mas has revived Movistar’s season and moved the team closer to securing its place by finishing second at Il Lombardia. The result adds to a highly productive second half of the season, in which he has brought his team 2563 UCI points—valuable for its ambitions in the current three-year cycle.

On the slopes of San Fermo, an exchange of looks and a few impressions with Giulio Ciccone came before Mas changed pace. The Spaniard dropped the Italian to claim second place, the second time in his career he has finished runner-up at Il Lombardia. In the closing part of the season, Enric has come to Movistar’s rescue.

This has been the best campaign of Enric Mas’s career in terms of results. As for UCI points, only 2024 was more productive, when he earned 2876. His current tally has been built on his victory at LaVuelta and his podium finish at Lombardia.

The Tour of Guangxi and the final one-day races on the Italian Pro calendar are still to come. The team is 1112 points clear of the ProTeam relegation zone, currently marked by NSN Cycling Team. With two seasons still remaining in the regulatory three-year cycle, the Spanish team ends its first year on a positive note, propelled by a winning Enric Mas.
