Amorim’s Milan have yet to find their stride. Away to Sassuolo in Serie A, they were held to a 1-1 draw, their third in six matchdays. Milan remain unbeaten, but now trail leaders Inter and Lazio by four points, while their attack continues to struggle under Rúben Amorim.
The game took time to come alive: little football was played in the opening half-hour, and Milan were slow to create openings. Diego Moreira helped bring his side closer to goal. In first-half stoppage time, Muric dealt with a shot on target from Moreira, then made another save from Strahinja Pvalovic’s downward header after a cross.
At the break, Amorim brought on Luka Modric, who had been left out of the starting line-up after facing Spain twice with the Croatian national team. Milan’s play gained control. But after taking the lead, Milan grew complacent and neglected their defensive duties. Sassuolo, until then quiet in attack, responded with direct play: Kieron Bowie and Kristian Thorstvedt created a double chance, which Mike Maignan dealt with.
Milan had to push forward again against a side sitting deep. Muric ultimately needed to make just one save, from a Samuel Chukwueze shot, to protect his goal. The latest draw keeps Milan unbeaten, but does not solve their attacking problems or prevent them from slipping further behind the teams at the top.
