Michael Olise is seeking a release clause in his new contract with Bayern Munich, giving him the option to leave in the future. The Frenchman plays for the German club, which is looking to extend a deal that expires in 2029. Real Madrid is among the major European clubs interested in him. Bayern is also working to extend Harry Kane’s contract.

Bayern is reportedly preparing an annual salary of more than 25 million euros for Olise, compared with around 14 million euros at present. That would make him the team’s highest-paid player, ahead of Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala.

Negotiations are, however, running into disagreement over the clause. Olise and his agent want it to allow the player to leave at a later date, while Bayern’s management is not keen on the idea. In Germany, a termination clause set at a specific amount must be explicitly written into the contract; that is the provision they want included in the new agreement.

The amount is reportedly the main point of contention. Bayern would like to set the clause at 200 million euros, while Olise is seeking a lower figure. The club has previously been reluctant to include such clauses, but accepted them in the contracts of Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala. The talks with Olise have therefore brought Bayern back to the same issue.
