Hammamet is hosting the African golf championship from 14 to 17 October, with 17 countries taking part. Tunisia’s return adds particular interest to this edition: the country was unable to compete in the previous tournament, held in Botswana in 2024.

Tunisia’s team includes Rabah Badoui, Bahaa Boulekmin and Aziz Dardouri, the trio behind the country’s best continental finish, fourth place in Cairo in 2022. They are joined by Mehdi Ben Youssef, 17, who lives in the United States.

South Africa arrives with a formidable record: its 12 continental titles are a championship high. The team is led by Evan Forrester, winner of the previous edition in Botswana two years ago. It also features Konstantan Van Wyk, the 2026 South African champion, Jad Sandelson and Jonathan Wilsnach.

Morocco, champions at the edition before last in Cairo four years ago, are another team to watch. Tunisia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya and Egypt are also targeting the places of honour.

Alongside the championship, the African Golf Confederation will hold its elective general assembly on 16 October for the 2026-2030 term. Mohamed Aziz El Fetni, president of the Tunisian Golf Federation and of the first African region, is a candidate for the Confederation’s vice-presidency.
