Danilo Pereira faces the threat of a four-match suspension after events surrounding the Clasico between Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad. The Portuguese midfielder of Al-Ittihad is implicated in incidents after the match, played on Saturday evening in the 8th round of the Roshn Saudi League. Al-Ittihad lost to Al-Hilal in a contest that remained tense until the final whistle; Saudi media reported the score as 3-2.
The tension continued after the final whistle. Several Al-Ittihad players protested the decisions of referee Khalid Al-Turais, while Pereira was at the centre of an incident that raised questions about possible action by the relevant authorities.
Reports from Saudi media say the conduct of Al-Ittihad players could expose them to disciplinary proceedings. Pereira’s conduct towards the referee could be classified as an attempted assault and could prompt the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee to take measures against him. The four-match ban being discussed is therefore a threat, not a disciplinary decision confirmed in the reported details.
