Jack Moorhouse will miss the rest of the season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury while on loan at Dundee from Manchester United. The 20-year-old midfielder faces a lengthy spell out, bringing his loan to an early end.

After injuring his knee, he returned to Carrington for medical assessment. Scans confirmed the severity of the problem. The injury happened against Partick Thistle, when Dundee initially hoped it would prove minor.

Moorhouse was then named in the starting line-up for the next fixture, as the Dark Blues beat Motherwell 2-1. He had attracted interest from other clubs during the summer, but Dundee brought him in to strengthen their midfield options.

This season, Dundee have had three players suffer ACL injuries: Moorhouse, Simon Murray and Fin Robertson. Steven Pressley has also explored the possibility of recruiting free agents to help cover the shortage of players.

Manchester United’s priority is to support Moorhouse through rehabilitation. He faces a lengthy recovery programme before resuming his career, with his immediate focus on getting fit rather than setting a return date.
