Kylian Mbappé and his mother have been questioned in a French investigation involving corruption and suspected influence-peddling. The Real Madrid player was also heard as part of the inquiry.
Last Friday, Faïza Lamari appeared before three investigating judges in Paris to give evidence about the matters under investigation. After questioning, she was granted « assisted witness » status in the case concerning Mohamed Sanhadji.
The status means the judges consider it possible that she may have taken part in the alleged acts, but that, at this stage, they do not have sufficiently serious and consistent evidence to place her under formal investigation. It is therefore not a formal charge.
It was also reported that Lamari had avoided being formally implicated in the case known as the Mohamed Sanhadji affair, named after the former police officer who was responsible for the French football team’s security between 2004 and 2026. Sanhadji’s close relationships with players are among the matters being examined: he is reported to have received significant financial benefits in recent years.
