“Without fear and with ambition”: David Hubert has made Union Saint-Gilloise’s mindset clear ahead of Thursday’s Europa League match against Real Sociedad. The coach said his team would approach the fixture as it had its trip to Pilsen, and would carry the same attitude into its following matches.
The Brussels club will have to cope with around ten absences, including injured and suspended players. Hubert said there was no update on the injured players and that his focus would be on those available. Despite the reduced squad, the target is clear: “to get the three points” at home.
The match will be played in Leuven because Union Saint-Gilloise’s stadium does not meet UEFA requirements for European competitions. Hubert wants his team to assess its options, fit the pieces together and devise the best game plan against a side he described as Spanish, capable of playing good football and possessing strong individual players.
The coach also noted that Real Sociedad had several options for rotating, with different players who could come into the starting line-up. His squad has been prepared as well as possible for those possibilities.
