The Vélodrome is waiting for a Marseille response in the Europa League. After a difficult start to the competition, the French side returned to winning ways in the league before hosting Olympiakos on Thursday, October 15 at 9 p.m. at the Vélodrome. The second-round match will be shown live and exclusively on Canal+.
Marseille ended a run of five consecutive defeats in all competitions this weekend with a 2-0 win over Troyes. That victory followed a difficult European opener: away to Besiktas, Marseille lost 4-1 despite Keyliane Abdallah’s equaliser in the 29th minute.
Olympiakos also arrive in positive form. They beat Jagiellonia Bialystok 2-1, with goals from Armando Gonzalez in the 43rd minute and Roman Iaremtchouk in the 84th, then went on to win the derby against Panathinaikos. The Greek side therefore come to the Vélodrome in strong form. Marseille will need to show a very different side to avoid another European setback.
Kick-off is scheduled for 9 p.m., with live coverage on Canal+. Canal+ also offers its Canal+ Sport package for 29.99 euros per month for one year, followed by 39.99 euros per month, with a two-year commitment. It includes European competitions, among them the Europa League, as well as a range of sporting events including the Premier League, La Liga, Top 14, Formula 1 and MotoGP.
