Warren Zaïre-Emery was one of the standout performers as PSG won 2-4 away to Manchester City on Wednesday in the Champions League. Picked ahead of Joao Neves in midfield, the 20-year-old was widely praised for his display. Playing alongside Fabian Ruiz and Vitinha, he impressed with his reliability, composure under pressure and physical presence in the middle of the pitch.
Christophe Dugarry called the performance “exceptional”. Daniel Riolo was equally impressed: “I thought he was incredible.” The Parisian midfielder left the pitch in the 84th minute, replaced by Lucas Beraldo.
Luis Enrique also admitted he had been nervous despite leading 0-3 at half-time: “If you’re unlucky today, you lose this match.” PSG’s midfield dominance was one of the defining features of the win. The performance also underlined Zaïre-Emery’s versatility: last season, he spent a long spell at right-back, filling in for Achraf Hakimi’s absence.
