Newcastle’s interest in David Otorbi is growing, with the English club among the Premier League sides to have contacted the Valencia winger’s representatives. The player’s priority, however, remains establishing himself in Valencia’s first team at Mestalla.
Attention increased after Newcastle scouts watched him in Valencia’s 2-2 draw with Racing Santander. The 18-year-old came on as a substitute, scored his first senior goal for Valencia and threatened again late in the match.
His representative, Nacho Gallart, confirmed that several clubs had made contact in recent weeks, with particular interest from England. “He is a player with a lot of market value, and always has been. In recent weeks, several clubs have called us,” he told Radio MARCA Valencia. He added: “It is true that many clubs have called us, especially from the Premier League.”
Gallart said the player’s camp was not seeking to rush a move away from Mestalla. Otorbi signed a new contract in April that runs until June 2028 and includes an automatic extension clause. Nothing suggests Valencia intend to sell, while Newcastle United have yet to submit an official bid.
“We are very happy in Valencia and, for now, our only objective is to keep learning, contribute and help the team if the manager considers it appropriate,” Otorbi said. Gallart believes the winger’s development should be gradual: “We want it to be slow; we believe that is necessary and we do not want to rush.”
