The FFF has released more than €2.2 million to help amateur clubs facing higher fuel prices. The scheme covers 12,000 amateur clubs in France and takes the form of fuel vouchers, with the French Football Federation announcing the arrangements on Friday.

The announcement came a few days after the plan to introduce the vouchers was unveiled. In early October, Federation president Philippe Diallo said the organisation was preparing financial support for amateur clubs affected by soaring fuel costs. On Thursday, the FFF executive committee finalised the details of the operation.

The amount provided depends on the number of registered members. Clubs with up to 100 members will receive €100. The grant rises to €200 for clubs with 101 to 249 members, and to €300 for those with 250 to 499. Clubs with 500 members or more will receive €500.

Philippe Diallo said the FFF wanted to pay the support directly into club accounts to help with travel difficulties caused by fuel costs. “The FFF wanted to support its 12,000 clubs by adding funds directly to their accounts, to help them get through this period of rising fuel prices, which is creating problems for them in terms of travel,” he said.

The Federation also described the scheme as the fulfilment of a previously announced commitment and a way to stay close to its clubs. It said that taking action during the season requires sufficient financial resources to address the everyday concerns of amateur football.
