Chabab Belouizdad’s management has announced the postponement of its first-leg match against AS Douanes in the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup. The decision, communicated on Friday evening, followed the receipt of an official letter from the Confederation of African Football’s competitions committee.
The club said the match is expected to take place at the beginning of November. Its new date will be announced once it has been officially confirmed by the relevant authorities.
The postponement comes as another part of the dispute between AS Douanes and Hafia Conakry prompted an emergency order from the TAS. It ordered the match to be postponed following a request from Hafia Conakry, which is contesting the CAF decision to reschedule the second leg of the first preliminary round against AS Douanes.
The dispute dates back to AS Douanes’ absence in Conakry on 11 September for that second leg. Hafia argued that the absence resulted from preventable organisational shortcomings, rather than force majeure that would justify rescheduling the match. The CAF decision to reschedule is therefore being challenged, while Chabab Belouizdad’s first leg against AS Douanes has also been postponed.
