Dietmar Hamann believes Luis Díaz is out of form at Bayern, where the winger has scored only two goals this season. The former Bayern player says the Colombian is currently well below his best, as Bayern Munich finds itself at the centre of debate across Europe.
In his first spell with Bayern, Díaz scored 26 goals and provided 23 assists in 51 matches. Hamann believes his influence on the pitch has declined. «He is out of form,» he says, adding that the team is struggling to find decisive options in one-on-one situations on the wing when Díaz has less impact in the final third.
The former Germany international extends his criticism to Bayern’s attack as a whole. «Bayern are becoming too dependent on Olise. If he does nothing, nobody else will! He is an exceptional player. I don’t even want to imagine what will happen without Olise if he is out for an extended period,» Hamann says.
The criticism from outside has not, however, unsettled the club’s inner circle: Bayern Munich remains calm and continues to back the winger from Colombia’s national team. Díaz’s challenge now is to answer his German critics, regain his sharpness in front of goal and re-establish himself as a leading partner in Bayern’s attack.
