JJ Gabriel’s family and agent have announced that his next destination will be revealed soon, following the end of his time with Manchester United. The 16-year-old is reported to have received official offers from Real Madrid and Barcelona, who are described as the leading contenders ahead of Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.
Real Madrid are reportedly best placed to complete the transfer. The club is said to have accepted the conditions put forward by Gabriel and his agent, Ali Barat, and to be ready to cover a cost estimated at 10 million euros. The player’s relatives have confirmed that the final decision will be announced in the coming days, with the uncertainty now weighing on all parties.
The Barcelona option appears less advanced. Sporting director Deco has reportedly insisted that he will not open negotiations, while acknowledging that Barat raised the player’s situation during a European tour. Gabriel’s entourage, however, say he wants to join Barcelona if his conditions are met.
A potential Barcelona proposal, reported with reference to the Touchline website, would include a three-season contract and a salary of around 2 million euros, as well as family allowances and performance bonuses. The figure would be unusual for a 16-year-old and in line with the regulations for players in that age group.
At the latest stage of discussions, Gabriel and his entourage chose to remain silent in Castelldefels and not publicise visits from the clubs, aiming to avoid media attention. The final choice is still awaited, with Real Madrid portrayed as the leading candidate and Barcelona as the destination the player would prefer under certain conditions.
