Real Madrid go into their match against Sevilla with two La Liga runs to extend. The number 16 is central to the occasion: Kooora reports that Madrid could reach it by avoiding defeat, while scoring would also continue the team’s run of finding the net. The match is scheduled for Sunday at the Santiago Bernabéu, on the ninth matchday of the Spanish league.
Citing an Opta statistic, Kooora reports that Real have not lost any of their last 15 La Liga meetings with Sevilla, winning 13 and drawing two. Another match without defeat would take the sequence to 16 and, according to that statistic, make it the longest such run between the sides in the competition. Kooora also describes the ninth-round fixture as a chance to pursue two new records in the history of their meetings.
The other sequence concerns goals. Real have scored in each of their last 15 league matches against Sevilla, with 29 goals across that stretch. Kooora says another goal in the upcoming meeting could extend the run and amount to a further record. The targets are separate: avoid defeat to continue the first sequence, and score to maintain the second.
The standings offer another point of reference before the match. After eight rounds, Real are fourth on 18 points, ahead of fifth-placed Sevilla on 14. Madrid’s La Liga record is six wins, no draws and two defeats, with 19 goals scored and eight conceded. They have won three and lost two of their last five league matches.
At home, Real have won all four of their La Liga matches, scoring 13 goals and conceding two. Away from home, they have two wins and two defeats in four games, with six goals scored and six conceded. Their average across the league is 2.38 goals scored and 1.00 conceded per match. Against Sevilla, the next meeting will therefore test two runs with different requirements: preserving the unbeaten sequence and continuing to score.
