Bayern thrash Leipzig to launch Arsenal revenge mission
By SportNestra Editorial Team

Bayern swept aside Leipzig in a statement performance that puts the focus on Luis Díaz ahead of their Arsenal revenge mission. The win takes on added significance with Wednesday’s Champions League match approaching: Michael Olise, who also scored against Leipzig, will be suspended for that game.
The result also highlighted the gulf between the sides. The Guardian described Leipzig as offering little resistance, while noting that Bayern produced their best football against a potential challenger. Vincent Kompany remained almost motionless on the bench at the Allianz Arena as his team poured forward with goals. Max Eberl explained after the match that the Belgian coach had been ill and was also dealing with a hip problem that made moving around uncomfortable.
Díaz took centre stage after the break. He collected a pass from Harry Kane, cut inside and curled a shot into the far corner. He then finished another move from a central position to complete his hat-trick. The display gives Bayern an important attacking option ahead of the trip to face Arsenal, especially with Olise unavailable through suspension.
Eberl reflected on a previous meeting with Arsenal: «We have memories of that game, and we want to translate those memories into energy this Wednesday.» The sporting director connected the Leipzig win with preparations for the upcoming fixture, while stopping short of presenting it as a knockout game. Bayern and Arsenal are instead expected to finish among the top eight in the league phase.
Joshua Kimmich had praised Díaz’s contribution, recalling: «He delivered incredible numbers for us last season» — 22 goals and 17 assists combined in the Bundesliga and Champions League. The hat-trick against Leipzig gives that praise fresh relevance as the winger prepares to make an impact against Arsenal.
The performance therefore carried two messages: Bayern responded on the pitch after a frustrating week, and Díaz produced a display at an opportune moment before the European fixture. The next task is to take that energy into the match against Arsenal, where Olise’s absence will affect the options available.
