Torino punish Parma’s poor start in emphatic 3-0 win

Torino swept past Parma 3-0 at the Stadio Ennio Tardini, capitalising on a difficult opening spell from their opponents. Gilardino said Parma had registered 25 shots, 10 of them on target, but Torino were more clinical. Giovanni Simeone opened the scoring after four minutes, finishing a cross from Belghali. Che Adams made it 2-0 in the 24th minute, turning Simeone’s close-range effort into the net. Simeone then scored Torino’s third to settle the result.
Parma improved after the break and created chances, but the response could not undo the damage from a poor first half-hour. A late effort from Marin Frigan was also ruled out for offside after a VAR review. Torino made it consecutive league victories, while Parma suffered another heavy defeat.
After seven Serie A matches, Torino sit 10th with 10 points, while Parma are 19th with four. Torino’s record stands at three wins, one draw and three losses, with 10 goals scored and nine conceded. Parma have one win, one draw and five defeats, scoring four and conceding 13. Across their last five Serie A games, Torino have three wins, a draw and a defeat; Parma have one win, one draw and three losses. The gap between them in the standings is six points.
Parma coach Alberto Gilardino accepted responsibility for his side’s start. “The first half-hour was far too bad. We were always second to the ball, and our pressing was late,” he said. He also said the team had to learn from the defeat without losing confidence.
Torino coach Ignazio Abate resisted calling the result a turning point, saying his team were still developing their approach. “We have started a process, and the road is long. Changing ideas takes time, as does building connections and a group with strong values,” the coach said. He praised his players’ commitment and their defending after taking control, while singling out Simeone’s persistence.
