Gordon wants to learn from defeat against PSG

“We have to learn from this, and I still have a lot to do,” Gordon said after the defeat at the Parc des Princes. The loss ended a run of 12 wins. The winger acknowledged that PSG had been better than Barça and stressed the need to turn a difficult night into a lesson, rather than focus only on the result.
Gordon had expected a high-scoring match that would entertain the crowd. He had hoped, though, that his team would come out of it better. In his view, PSG deserved to win: they had better spells, showed more quality and managed to sustain their pressing and intensity for longer. “They have been the team to beat for two years, and tonight showed why,” he admitted. He also conceded that he had not produced his best performance.
Even so, Gordon wants his side to take positives from the display. “We should hold on to the positives: we competed at a good level. It was a competitive spectacle,” he said. The next step, in his view, is to examine what needs to improve. Gordon believes his team remains in a good position and wants it to learn from the defeat and become the side every opponent wants to beat. That assessment does not erase his acknowledgement of PSG’s superiority; rather, it points to the work required after the loss.
On an individual level, Gordon has no preference between his two attacking roles. He began the match on the left wing and finished as a number nine. “I enjoy playing in both positions because each gives me something different,” he explained, while describing the team’s overall performance as very good. He nevertheless admitted that he still has individual work to do and did not reach the level he wanted in this match.
Gordon is now looking towards Sunday’s Clásico at Spotify Camp Nou. He pointed out that the match that day was not a final and that many games remain. During Champions League week, he hopes to face PSG again in the later rounds. First, though, comes the home Clásico, which he called a hugely important match that the team is eagerly anticipating.
