De Zerbi confirmed that Marmoush was in good shape before Tottenham’s trip to Chelsea on Saturday evening in the eighth round of the Premier League. The match will be played at Stamford Bridge. Tottenham’s Italian coach also provided an update on player availability and his team’s options.
Marmoush is among the attacking choices De Zerbi is considering, while James Maddison’s involvement remains uncertain. Maddison did not train with the team during the first three days, and a decision on whether he will face Chelsea has not yet been made. De Zerbi named Tel, Marmoush and Gallagher as options, adding that he did not want to take risks with his players at a time when injuries are increasing in European football.
The coach also said Robertson was available and that Solanke was in good shape. Bergvall and Savinho will be absent. He said there were no other absentees.
Chelsea go into the fixture fourth in the Premier League with 13 points from seven matches. Their league record stands at four wins, one draw and two defeats, with 17 goals scored and 13 conceded. Across their last five Premier League matches, they have won twice, drawn once and lost twice.
At home, Chelsea are unbeaten in three league matches, with two wins and a draw, scoring 11 goals and conceding six. Their away record is two wins and two defeats in four matches, with six goals scored and seven conceded. Across their seven matches, Chelsea have averaged 2.43 goals scored and 1.86 conceded per game. Tottenham therefore travel to a side firmly placed near the top of the table, while De Zerbi must weigh the uncertainty around Maddison against the announced absences.
