Athletic faces another important contest today, away from the pitch: at its ordinary general assembly, the club will put its management, the previous financial year’s accounts and this season’s budget to a vote by its members. The meeting is scheduled to start at 18:00 at the Palacio Euskalduna, where Jon Uriarte and his team will appear before them. It will be Uriarte’s fifth assembly and the first since the start of his second term. Members are therefore being asked to consider three separate matters: the board’s record, the accounts for the year just ended and the financial plan for the current season.

The proposed budget forecasts revenue of 152.6 million euros. The accounts show an operating result of 38.1 million euros and a net profit of 20.6 million. That profit is three times the figure for the previous financial year and 100% higher than the amount in the budget approved for 2025-26. Those figures are at the heart of the meeting: members will hear the club’s financial picture and vote on both the accounts and the proposed budget.

The summer moves involving Agirrezabala and Unai Gómez are among the items reflected in the accounts. The club is also bringing forward future contributions to Fundación Athletic, worth 6.8 million euros. In addition, it is increasing by 13.8 million euros the amount allocated to depreciation and amortisation of the first team’s sporting assets.

The board is also putting forward a 2.1% increase in members’ fees, less than half the IPC. Another financial matter is a 15 million euro investment. Club treasurer Guillermo Ruiz-Longarte had said that part of the funding could go towards expansions at San Mamés and Lezama. The assembly will thus consider the previous year’s accounts, the club’s budget choices for this season and planned expenditure before members vote on the board’s proposals.
