Juancho Hernangomez opens the second season of EuroLeague & Friends Made in Spain

EuroLeague & Friends Made in Spain is back, with Juancho Hernangomez opening its second season. After a first season described as a success, EuroLeague journalist Javier Gancedo and former player Quino Colom, a world champion with Spain in 2019, resume their basketball show with leading guests in a relaxed format.

Produced in collaboration with Marca, the podcast is built around conversations between people who know the game. Its first episode of the season, featuring the Panathinaikos forward, will be available on Wednesday, September 23 from 6 p.m. on Marca.com, as a curtain-raiser for the start of the 2026-27 EuroLeague regular season.

For the interview, Javier Gancedo and Quino Colom travelled to the Telekom Center in Athens, Greece, the home court of Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens. Juancho Hernangomez is starting his fourth season with the club, having opted to join Panathinaikos despite numerous offers after seven seasons in the NBA. He has gradually become one of the best-known personalities in Greece, where he is recognised everywhere.

His profile was also significantly boosted by his major role in the Netflix film Hustle. Over a little more than 40 minutes, he discusses with Quino Colom and Javier Gancedo his arrival in Athens, a funny incident on his first day, how he handles fame, the importance of his family and the values it instilled in him. He also looks back on his NBA career and how Nikola Jokic became his best friend in the competition.

Juancho Hernangomez also talks about his bond with his teammates and their families, explaining that the children of some players call him “Uncle Juancho”. He openly addresses his social commitment and how he uses his fame to improve people’s lives, as well as what it feels like to experience a Greek derby from the inside. He also reflects on how difficult it was for the Panathinaikos family to see Olympiacos win the EuroLeague on its own court.

Like Quino Colom, Juancho Hernangomez was part of Spain’s world champion squad in 2019, before also winning EuroBasket 2022 with Spain. At Panathinaikos, described as a family led by owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos, the latter has an excellent relationship with him and believes he represents the club’s values better than anyone. The new episode unfolds in an atmosphere of jokes and good humour.
