Go Sports, a new channel bidding for Colombian football rights from 2027

Go Sports is the new channel that could broadcast Colombian football from 2027. Following the Dimayor assembly on September 21, 2026, the bidding process for Colombian professional football broadcasting rights has entered a decisive phase.

The Panama-registered company is emerging as Win Sports’ main challenger for the rights from 2027. Mauricio Correa is described as being behind this international channel, which wants to broadcast Liga BetPlay in 2027. However, the scale of the proposal has also raised questions about Go Sports’ operational structure and the businessman’s role.

Go Sports has put forward an offer of close to $90 million for a seven-year contract for Colombian professional football television rights, including the option to sublicense them. The project includes a strategic partnership with producer Mediapro and an Arab investment fund.

Win Sports, the current rights holder, has 60 business days to match or surpass the offer if it wishes to retain exclusive rights to the domestic competition. No other proposals were submitted during the assembly.

Although its administrative headquarters is listed in Bogotá, journalistic investigations led by Alejandro Pino Calad state that Go Sports Media was founded in Panama on November 26, 2012, and has neither installed capacity nor its own production infrastructure in Colombia.

The relationship between Dimayor and the Panama-based company stretches back more than a decade. Through contractual clauses, Go Sports has received a recurring share of Colombian professional football licences: a fixed 2.2% commission on television-rights licensing contracts. Its accumulated income is close to 40,000 million Colombian pesos over the past 14 years and, based on those consolidated returns, exceeds that of traditional clubs such as Atlético Nacional, Millonarios and América de Cali.

Mauricio Correa is a historic figure in the commercialisation of televised football in Colombia. He founded the FPC channel at Telmex, then structured the launch of Win Sports with Dimayor executives in 2012. After leaving Win’s management in 2018, he led continental production projects and the implementation of video assistant refereeing in Colombia with Mediapro.

Correa has publicly sought to distance himself from the legal ownership of Go Sports, citing the confidentiality of the Panamanian corporation. Several analysts and journalists nonetheless question his role, arguing that he actively defends the company’s commercial contracts.
