United persist with JJ Gabriel but are already exploring two replacement options

United have not given up on JJ Gabriel, while already preparing for life after him. The English club are reportedly doing everything possible to persuade the young player to reverse his decision and stay in Manchester. But, being under 16, he does not have a professional contract and all indications point to him leaving the club.

With that in mind, the team coached by Michael Carrick are interested in two profiles: Mezian Mesloub and Gabriel Rajkovic. Mesloub caught the eye in the Champions League a few weeks ago. The 16-year-old Lens player came on against Slavia Prague and helped his side turn the match around with an assist.

The Portuguese player also impressed with a style of play considered very similar to that of Lamine Yamal. It has been reported that United are carrying out extensive work to bring him into their academy, while Arsenal and Chelsea are also reportedly following him.

Competition and regulations nevertheless complicate that pursuit. Premier League clubs are not allowed to sign European players under 18 from federations outside the United Kingdom, except in certain cases. PSG and Monaco also want to recruit Mesloub, and the fact that he already plays in Ligue 1 could give those two clubs an advantage.

Gabriel Rajkovic, a 15-year-old Valerenga player, is also among the targets being tracked by United. It has been reported that the club sent a scout to watch him, as did FC Barcelona. According to Norwegian sources, a transfer could be completed for €16 million.

Like JJ Gabriel, Rajkovic is described as a player technically comfortable with both feet, although he plays as a winger. He has already played 14 matches in Norway's top division and scored two goals. Born in Norway and a Norway international, he can also represent Serbia and Morocco.

Rajkovic is reportedly already believed to have turned down several offers from major clubs and would not be in a hurry to leave his country. His contract with Valerenga runs until 2028. Should JJ Gabriel leave, United will therefore have to wait and compete with other major clubs in an attempt to sign these two young players.
