Thiago Pitarch is a key reinforcement for Castilla during this international break. The 19-year-old midfielder from Fuenlabrada is due to play his first minutes of the season with the reserve side against Sant Andreu, having missed José Mourinho’s team’s entire pre-season because of a knee injury.
Although he belongs to the first-team squad, Pitarch is registered with Castilla. The club, the player and José Mourinho have decided that he will play with the reserve side during the international break so that he can regain match fitness. The idea is for him to rejoin the first-team set-up after the international commitments.
During the break, Pitarch could also take part in Group II 1st RFEF matches against Alcorcón on 27 September and Atlético de Madrid B on 2 October. Both games will be played at the Alfredo Di Stéfano.
The player is reported to have been included in several first-team squads but has not yet been able to play any minutes.
López de Lerma’s side travel to Can Dragó on Wednesday to face Sant Andreu in a match originally scheduled for the previous weekend and postponed because of the Under-20 Intercontinental Cup.
