Manuel Pellegrini and his assistants have completed the Camino de Santiago, fulfilling a promise they had made if Real Betis qualified for the Champions League.
The Betis coaching staff, led by Pellegrini and his close collaborator Rubén Cousillas, took advantage of Sunday’s trip to face Depor at Riazor, which ended in a 1-1 draw, to remain there and honour that commitment.
On Monday and Tuesday, Pellegrini, Rubén Cousillas, Félix Cao, Toni Doblas, José Luis Abad and Andrés Moreno walked the final stages of the route, covering around 20 km on each of the two days. They arrived on Tuesday.
Real Betis will return to training on Wednesday without their internationals. After recording the highest points tally in their history over the opening seven La Liga matchdays, with 16 points, the team will prepare for four successive fixtures at La Cartuja after the break: two in La Liga against Osasuna and FC Barcelona, followed by two in the Champions League against FC Porto and Feyenoord.
