Juanma Castaño has apologised after comparing Real Madrid TV with the newspaper Gara in an article published by Abc on Tuesday. The Cadena Cope journalist acknowledged on his programme El Partidazo de Cope that the metaphor was excessive and that he should not have used it.
“I withdraw the comparison,” he said, describing it as unfortunate and mistaken. He reiterated his apology for the comparison while stressing that his view of Real Madrid TV remained unchanged, yesterday and today, unless the channel changed the way it operates.
In the same appearance, Juanma Castaño said that Real Madrid TV was an official club media outlet which, in his view, “lies, manipulates, targets and harasses”. He presented those remarks as his opinion, separate from the comparison he withdrew.
The club responded with a statement in the morning, saying that the article in question amounted to “an extremely serious exercise that crosses every line”.
